Shoreline Analysis Report
Yarrow Point is in the process of updating its Shoreline Master Program (SMP) - policies and regulations that govern waterfront development within the town. This work is being accomplished with a grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology.
The current SMP was drafted in the early 1970s, following passage by the state of the Shoreline Management Act (SMA), and was intended to prevent the inherent harm resulting from “uncoordinated and piecemeal development of the state’s shorelines.” In 2003, the state revised its shoreline management guidelines to emphasize ecologically appropriate development. Yarrow Point is required to update its shoreline regulations accordingly.
