Prepare Your Household for Emergencies
After a disaster, you and your family should be prepared to be on your own for at
least three days. In some emergencies, such as an influenza pandemic, you may
need to prepare for a week or more. Emergency response teams will be very busy
and may not be able to provide immediate care to all who need it.

Reverse 911
The reverse 911 system allows emergency messages to be sent simultaneously
to all phones in Yarrow Point. When someone answers the phone, the recording
identifies itself as "Reverse 911" and provides information about fires,
chemical spills, gas leaks or other emergencies.

More information about the Reverse 911 emergency notification system:
Listed landline phone numbers are supplied to the NORCOM database on an
annual basis by phone companies. But, it's important to sign up if you have
a cell phone or an unlisted number, because those are not automatically
updated. Even if you do have a listed landline number, it is a good idea to
sign up because it ensures your number is in the system and that it's
accurate.
Reverse 911 contacts you based on the geographic location of the billing
address for the number. For example, if you are on vacation and a major
disaster occurs in Yarrow Point, the system will call you on your cell phone
wherever you currently are. Be advised that you could receive a call from
the system at a time that is not convenient.
